Target Promotes Its Apps With In-store Signage
One retailer that really loves mobile is Target, they recently launched an in-store campaign to promote its iPhone and Android app. The call-to-action signs are placed throughout the store, including in checkout lanes and on aisle end caps. Target tries to point people that are looking for help in-store to download the app.
Additionally Target clients can also get the app by texting the keyword APP to 827438. Just text APP and you’ll get the appropriate download link for your operating system.
In an interview with Mobile Commerce Daily, Eddie Baeb, spokesman at Target, Minneapolis revealed the reasoning behind Target’s initiative to promote the mobile apps: “We’re promoting Target’s app with in-store signage so that more guests will learn about the many features and offerings available – from mobile coupons to lists, store maps and item availability information,” said Eddie Baeb, spokesman at Target, Minneapolis. We also know that guests who use our app are highly engaged Target guest.”.
The Target mobile apps allow customers to shop from anywhere, checkout inventory on specific stores and locate the nearest stores that hold the desired item. The app gives users access to exclusive deals: Daily deals, Weekly ad, Coupons, What’s Hot (new arrivals, seasonal specials). Other popular features are Reviews and TargetLists, that keeps track of the things you need.
Along with its in-store signage, Target also released a video titled “More to love”, presenting the core features of their apps.
