Top Vendors In The App Store 4x The Revenue

Mobile analytics firm Distimo just released their annual report on app stores. The most spectacular finding is that the 200 highest grossing apps are making 4 times the revenue in the iPhone App Store, and 2 times on the iPad App Store than in Google’s Android Market.

There’s also a big trend among mobile developers to use in app purchases and freemium models, 50% of them in the iPhone App Store, and 65% in Android Market.

There are now over 1 million apps in all app stores, almost all stores doubling their size throughout 2011. Windows Phone 7 Marketplace showed the largest relative growth with more than 400% year-on-year growth.
