Kindle Fire Video Review
The Kindle Fire just launched and we got to see already some interesting reviews. Kindle Fire costs only $199 and is positioned as a low priced Android tablet, under the $249 price of the Nook and the $499 of the iPad. It is viewed mostly as a consumption device, Amazon putting emphasize mostly on the content they provide, not on the technical specifications or looks.
Since this is a tablet that will be sold in millions of pieces, it is very interesting for the developer community as well. Appcelerator and IDC surveyed 2,160 Appcelerator Titanium developers from November 2-3, 2011 on perceptions surrounding mobile OS trends and priorities.
The survey revealed some pretty cool stuff. At 49% very interested in North America, the Kindle Fire is just 4 points less than interest in the iPad (53%) prior to its launch in April 2010. Worldwide with 43% very interested, it is only after Samsung galaxy Tab with 56%.
When asked what’s the most compelling factor when considering the Kindle Fire, the answer was the price.
When asked what they are most concerned about, 32% of developers mentioned the fragmentation, followed by lack of GPS and camera with 20%. Also interesting is that 17% are concerned by the fact that Amazon focuses more on content than on apps.
